A Poem About a Young Man’s Sorrows

A Deep Darkness…..There is a deep darkness in my soul.

It threatens to surface in a blinding boil.

It began when I was just a boy

Betrayed by a mother to whom I was just a toy

She could manipulate to in her kind of joy.

I gave my heart to three religious efforts

Missions that in truth were for bragging rights

Not for the battered street folks on endless cold nights’

I feel betrayed by my country and its many corrupted layers

That exists for the rich ignoring the poor folks desperate prayers.

I feel exhausted by my struggles with my sinful selfish self

I desperately look for a place to hide on an isolated lonely shelf.
