Practice makes Progress Not Perfection

I have wasted so much effort in my life trying to will my way to healthy behaviour. [I learned to read out of the KJV Bible so the British “U sometimes shows up.]

That does not mean my will is not useful. Instead it means my will was misdirected. When I was in Al-Anon awhile I discovered that the appropriate use of my will was to use my will to work my program in a determined way. Once someone asked me to explain how Al-Anon works. I said “I don’t have a clue. All I know is that when I do as I am told I get better”.
